| If you saw Dominique Brownes walking down the street, yes, you would stare. The Montreal-born professional film, tv, stage and commercial actress is everything but your typical girl-next-door. The 5'10 tall exotic beauty has been standing out in the crowd since the day she was adopted into a Caucasian family at exactly 5 days old. 5 years later, her parents enrolled her in her first acting class. All Dominique remembers from that experience is that everyone in the group was older and more experienced. However, she got cast as the sun in the final showcase and although she had less than 5 lines and was absolutely terrified everytime she had to go on stage, she claims she loved it. Well guess what, the sun has not stopped shinning since. Dominique's first feature film credit was a role opposing Chris Pine in Will Smith produced "This Means War". Dominique has performed in English, French and Creole in commercials, music videos, plays, tv, and films. Classically trained in theatre, Dominique is also an accomplished student having earned two degrees from Concordia University (Bachelors of Arts in Communications Studies, Bachelors of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance) and over a dozen of awards, scholarships and bursaries during the course of her undergraduate studies in the Arts. Ms. Brownes’ ongoing training for film and television also includes classes and workshops in Montreal, New York and Vancouver. She has had the opportunity to work with Canadian, American and internationally known teachers, coaches and directors such as McG (Terminator Salvation), Johanne Edelmann (Stella Adler Studio of Acting), Ben Ratner, Matthew Harrison and Bradley Stryker (Actor’s Foundry) and Barbara Deutsch. |
